I look forward to another term with all of you, a beloved Muslim community that has helped me grow, and I now hope to help this community grow as well. Ultimately, there's always room for improvement - there are more ways to keep making our MSA more welcoming to new faces, and more ways to support the Muslims on campus (whether it's for religious or non-religious needs). Most of all, I request you all not hesitate to convey your opinions and criticisms to me if you have any at all - even the tiniest. The MSA thrives on such feedback and aims to make itself as accessible as possible.

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ ٱلْوَرِيدِ

"and We are closer to them than ˹their˺ jugular vein." (Al-Qur'an, 50:16)

I'm Zulaikha and I just finished 4A Electrical Engineering and am currently on co-op. I initially joined the MSA for fun, but...here I am now. Essentially, I just make sure we have a good relationship with WUSA. Oh, and I like balancing stuff. The longest thing I've balanced on my finger was 6 metre sticks taped together. But anyway, feel free to reach out for whatever reason, whether school-related or not.

"For your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And honour your parents. If one or both of them reach old age in your care, never say to them [even] ‘ugh,’ nor yell at them. Rather, address them respectfully. And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”" (Al-Qur'an, 17:23-24)

All praise is to Allah SWT. There are genuinely a million things I can say about the MSA but in this small square IG slide I have been given, the one thing I want to convey is this: the MSA is not just a religious club for practicing muslims. For the one who is struggling with the burden of school, for the one who is working on becoming a better person and muslim, for the one who is away from parents and siblings and family and comfort, for so many brothers and sisters, the MSA is a home away from home. And InShaAllah, alongside everyone on the team, I intend on helping keep the foundation of our home as concrete and reliable as possible with the cement that is our Islam - Bi'Ithnillah.

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ

I’m Adam Elhedhli, and I am honored to serve as your VP internal this term. I am in my 4A term of Economics and am currently on campus. My responsibilities include advocating for the needs of the Muslim community on campus, maintaining the MSA’s various prayer spaces and acting as the general liaison between the MSA and the University administration. If you see me around UW, please come say hello, just be warned that I will judge you based on your favorite soccer team. Also, I am always looking for suggestions, concerns and feedback regarding the MSA and the Muslim experience on campus so feel free to get in contact with me anytime.

Al-Nu’man ibn Bashir reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”

I'm honored to be the new VP External for the MSA, a journey that began as a member of the marketing team two years ago. This community has transformed me, and I'm excited to give back. I'm keen to hear your feedback, focusing on improving communications. The MSA has been like a second family, offering me incredible support and a sense of belonging while away from home. My mission is to maintain its openness and warmth!

وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوْ قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَآئِمًۭا فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمْ يَدْعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرٍّۢ مَّسَّهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُون

"Whenever someone is touched by hardship, they cry out to Us, whether lying on their side, sitting, or standing. But when We relieve their hardship, they return to their old ways as if they had never cried to Us to remove any hardship! This is how the misdeeds of the transgressors have been made appealing to them." (Al-Qur'an, 10:12)

I'm Mohamed Farag & I'm in 3A Biomedical Sciences. I joined the MSA because it's the only place where I felt some sense of belonging without compromising my deen, especially after seeing the welcoming face of Ameen (the president), which introduced me to the MSA last fall. Insha'Allah my #1 intention is to please Allah by being the welcoming face to everyone by creating, organizing and executing fun social events that allows everyone to fulfill their spiritual needs and create a righteous company Bi'inthillah, all with the help of my amazing team.

لاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللّهُ نَفْساً إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا
(Al-Qur'an, 2:286)

I feel like this is an especially important phrase to remember throughout this Fall term because it tends to be a hectic study term. A lot of new-coming students also have to adjust to the higher workload and it can get overwhelming at times. Merely reciting this phrase AND completing the ayah always relieves my mind when under stress. Many other ayahs do the same but this one sticks out the most.

My name is Amna, and this term I'll be your VP finance. I joined the MSA mostly to do work, to whatever capacity, for the sake of Allah swt. InshaaAllah I'm looking forward to accomplishing that with the rest of the exec team and expanding the scope of the finance team, along with my leads, to include more initiatives and resources for Muslims on campus. . وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا۟ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ تَرَىٰٓ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ ٱلدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ ۖ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِين

"When they listen to what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears for recognizing the truth. They say, “Our Lord! We believe, so count us among the witnesses.”" (Al-Qur'an, 5:83)
