Ramadan Mubarak!
The Orientation Week Committee has made arrangements so you can observe
the practices of Ramadan and have a great time during your first week
on campus. To get you started, here are some frequently asked questions: Meals
Where can I find halal food?The Village 1 and Ron Eydt Village cafeterias have halal options on their menu daily. If you visit the cafeteria after lunch or dinner hours, you can also order halal options from the grill. There are many restaurants that serve halal food off campus in the University plaza as well. The plaza is only a short walk away from campus on University Road. Halal options include Shandiz, the Grill, and Al Madina’s. For a complete listing, please visit http://www.uwmsa.com/halal. Are there any
arrangements for Suhoor (pre-dawn breakfast)?
The Village 1 cafeteria is open early
to serve fasting students. They will open at 5 am daily during Ramadan.
For more information, ask about suhoor service at the cafeteria. Where can I break my fast at Iftar time?Dinner times differ depending on your
Orientation schedule. Often dinner will be served much before iftar
time. You can always ask for your dinner to be packed so you can eat
it at iftar
or you can order from the grill at the cafeterias or visit the plaza.
Ask your residence don about areas where you can freeze your food or
microwaves to warm up your food before eating. Prayers

pray on campus?

don or your Orientation. Leader to find the direction. Where can I go for the congregational Friday prayers (Jumah) during Orientation Week?During Orientation Week, Friday September
11, there will be one Jumah prayer held at 2:30 pm in the Multifaith
Prayer room on the 3rd floor in The Student Life Centre.

(MSA) holds taraweeh prayers once classes begin. However, there are
no taraweeh prayers on campus during Orientation Week. You can visit
the local mosque if you’d like to join in the night prayers with the
community. The local mosque is located at Westmount and Erb, for more
