The UW-MSA Khutbah Committee was created in Fall 2007 to meet the growing demands of the Muslim population on-campus regarding the Friday Prayers. With two established Friday Prayers run by the MSA every week it was necessary to create a separate committee to effectively deal with this important service.
The Khutbah Committee consists of active MSA khateebs from around the Kitchener-Waterloo community whether they may be students, grads, faculty, or general community members. The MSA runs both the 1:30pm and 2:30pm Friday Prayers every week, except during University holidays.
The Khutbah Committee has been given the following mandate by the UW-MSA Executive Committee:
1-To train & nominate MSA Khateebs,
2-To ensure that the weekly Khutbahs are running effectively,
3-To follow up on all feedbacks related to the Khutbahs or Khateeb,
4-To ensure that all Khutbahs adhere to the proper Islamic principles.
